1:1 SOUND THERAPY

Sometimes we just don't have words for why we feel the way we do but we do know where we feel it in our bodies- tightness in the shoulders, heaviness in the chest, racing thoughts, numbness…

With Sound Therapy, your felt experience is listened to and harnessed to create meaningful change and lasting healing.

Hello Wonder and welcome! Thanks for your interest in Sound Therapy.

I’ve found this way of working to be transformative personally and for my clients in myriad ways, and I love talking about it so here’s a video giving you a flavour of what Sound Therapy involves, how it can work for you along with it’s benefits.

WHAT IS SOUND THERAPY?

Sound Therapy is  for you if:

  • You want to get out of the burnout cycle, slow down and live harmoniously.

  • You experience anxiety, loneliness &/ or depression.

  • You just know you need some kind of healing.

  • You want some more tools to maintain your mental fitness.

  • You simply love immersive experiences.

  • You feel disconnected or numb.

  • You experience chronic pain and need respite from your symptoms.

  • You are processing grief that is taking, what feels like, a long time to pass.

  • You are currently in or have previously accessed talking therapy but would like to experience something less in your head and more in your body.

  • You feel blocked, stuck or disempowered.

  • You have experienced a traumatic event and feel you cannot move past it.

  • You are an activist, healer or publicly engaged creative who knows the value of holistic practices and enjoy creating deeper connection with yourself through different modalities.

The Therapy

Sound Therapy involves playing instruments in a way that elicits a deeply relaxed state called an altered state of consciousness which is totally natural and a bit like a daydream.

It takes a human-centered approach that places your emotional and physical experience front and centre allowing your body to speak.

Depending on how you present each session, a sonic score will be created in response and used as a mirror for your life (what we call the construct).

It’s the addition of guided reflection and tailoring the instruments to your construct that makes 1:1 Sound Therapy so powerful and different to attending a Sound Bath/Sound Healing for relaxation.

BAST (British Academy of Sound Therapy where I trained) have been developing a unique approach to Sound Therapy for over 27 years that is world-renowned for it’s efficacy. This method of Sound Therapy is scientifically backed and researched in partnership with Chichester University, UK.

I’ll introduce you to the Cooper Sax Method of Experiential Processing, a therapeutic framework for reflection that helps provide context for your experience during the sound.

A typical session lasts around 1hr 15-1hr 30, beginning and ending with reflection.

During the guided reflection, I take notes so we can keep track of any themes that arise and each session builds on the next so by your final appointment, you will feel as though you will float away whilst empowered to continue a self-practice that works for you far into the future.

The Process

Stages can vary in length and will be dictated by how embedded or long-term the issues you’d like to work through are. However, as a general rule, I work in 6 week or 12 week tranches to secure an effective and meaningful experience. Bearing this in mind your time commitment with me could look like:

6 Week Model

Stage 1: Weeks 1 -2; Stage 2: Weeks 3-4; Stage 3: Weeks 5-6 [integration weeks (week break from therapy to reflect/ integrate the process) to be inserted if an when seems appropriate)

12 Week Model

Stage 1: Weeks 1 -4; [Integration week/ break], Stage 2: Weeks 5-8; Stage [Integration week/ break] 3: Weeks 9-12

About me

With 17 years of experience as a professional artist, creativity and my art practice is central to my healing journey. It was through attending my first sound bath I was able to make connections between my artistic approach and love of music. I was blown away by the deep sense of connection, freedom, expansion and ecstasy I felt so I had to find out more and became a BAST (British Academy of Sound Therapy) certified group facilitator in 2020 & 1:1 Sound Therapist in 2022. As someone who has experienced burnout, self-hatred, I got to a point where I never wanted to go through that again so I had to build practices for myself.

My art practice got me someway to self-healing however, Sound Baths, Sound Therapy sped things up exponentially and Focaliizing ( a Somatic, trauma-informed, body-based modality I became certified in 2024) helped refine my knowledge on how to facilitate self-healing & loosen the grip of trauma in others through intentionally creating connection & space to, with and in the body.

Through these body-based therapies, I recognised that my intuition is always leading me to something wonderful, I just have to make space for it to be heard and take its advice. When I did listen, things changed very quickly for the better- Sound and Somatic therapies helped me thrive, it can do the same for you too.
