SOUND THERAPY

A 1:1 therapeutic sound programme helping creatives and soul-led humans to recover and find more resonance, joy and freedom in their lives.

The world is a tricky place right now. We are collectively dealing with really, big and heavy stuff on top of the responsibilities of daily life. We can’t shy away from it and perhaps that’s the reason why it’s so hard- you want to be informed but the news can seem so bleak. Perhaps you feel a responsibility to do something but you don’t know how…? This programme is designed to provide your body and mind with profound rest so that your imagination is nourished and can start dreaming of a new, hopeful future.

This is for you if:

  • You are sick and tired of feeling on the edge of being burnt out and need a route towards a more sustainable way of living so you can find time for your hobbies, passion projects or connect with your family and community.

  • You are an activist, healer or publicly engaged creative who knows the value of holistic practices and enjoys creating deeper connection with themselves through different modalities.

  • You want to say a big fat F*** YOU to capitalism by slowing down.

  • You live with anxiety &/ or depression and want to add to the tools that maintain your mental fitness.

  • You simply love immersive experiences.

  • Experience chronic pain and need respite from your symptoms.

  • You are processing grief that is taking, what feels like, a long time to pass.

  • You are currently in or have previously accessed talking therapy but would like to experience something less in your head and more in your body.

  • You feel blocked, stuck and disempowered.

These Sound Therapy sessions can be conducted online and in person (Ramsgate, UK).

Are you excited to start? Great! Book a call and let’s discuss how Sound Therapy can help you.

About me

With 17 years of experience as a professional artist, my art practice is central to my healing journey. It was through attending my first sound bath that I was able to make connections between my artistic approach and love of music. I was blown away by the deep sense of connection, freedom, expansion and ecstasy I felt so I had to find out more and became a BAST (British Academy of Sound Therapy) certified 1:1 (2022) and group Sound Therapist (2020). As someone who has experienced burnout, self-hatred and felt that hell was real and I was living in it multiple times. I got to a point where I never wanted to go through that again so I had to build practices for myself. My art practice got me someway to self-healing however, Sound Baths and Sound Therapy sped things up exponentially. Through Sound Therapy, I recognised that my intuition is always leading me to something wonderful, I just have to make space for it to be heard and take its advice. When I did listen, things changed very quickly for the better- sound helped me get there, it can do the same for you too.

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence. It is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare”

— Audre Lorde

I believe this to my core. There are so many of us who are too used to burning ourselves out as a matter of course. The arts and healing professions are there to nourish us, show us what is possible and imagine alternative futures but with overwork, stress, anxiety and depression becoming the norm, just maintaining the day-to-day can feel like a luxury so how can we dream expansively and come up with wild, incredible alternatives to the status quo?

We have to be well rested. We have to fill our cups and find a way to combat the effects of hyper-capitalism. And we have to dream that a better future is possible and take steps towards making it happen.

The Therapy

BAST (British Academy of Sound Therapy where I trained) have been developing a unique approach to Sound Therapy for over 27 years that is world-renowned for it’s efficacy.

Using the Cooper Sax Method of Experiential Processing, a therapeutic framework for reflection and involving the physics of sound and psychology of music, this method of Sound Therapy is scientifically backed and researched in partnership with Chichester University, UK. The therapy involves playing instruments in such a way to elicit a deeply relaxed state called an altered state of consciousness which is totally natural and a bit like a daydream. You’ll likely go in and out of this state throughout your day but for no more than 30 seconds at a time. It’s less common to be in this state for longer periods and it’s been shown to be incredibly beneficial for mind, body and spirit.

Including all the above, the therapy takes a human-centered approach that places your emotional and physical experience front and centre and we allow the body to speak. Sometimes we just don't have words for what is going on but we do know how we feel in our bodies- tightness in the shoulders, heaviness in the chest, numbness around the heart etc. Depending on how you present during each session, the sonic score will be created in response and used as a mirror for your experience (what we call the construct). It’s the addition of guided reflection and tailoring the instruments to your needs that makes 1:1 Sound Therapy so powerful and different to attending a Sound Bath/Sound Healing for relaxation.

A typical session lasts around 1.15-1.5 hours, beginning and ending with reflection. You’ll be situated on a comfortable couch and spend the majority of the time- 35-50 mins with your eyes closed enveloped and resting in dynamic, soothing sound. During the guided reflection, I take notes so we can keep track of any themes that arise. Each session builds on the next so by your final appointment, you will feel so light as though you will float away and be empowered to continue a self-practice that works for you far into the future.

Imagine feeling so deeply restored, so light and free that all the things that are holding you back weren’t even a thing anymore.

What to expect

Each instrument has a unique sound signature and, depending on what your needs are, your score will be created with these sonic qualities in mind.

  • Whether it be Voice, Gong, Himalayan Singing Bowls or Crystal Singing Bowls, a single method session provides immersion in the sound of one instrument. This provides an experience where you luxuriate in that instrument’s delicious tones for an optimal length of time. This is generally used for those who are fatigued or on the anxious side of the spectrum.

  • Scores using multiple instruments create a dynamic experience enabling you to benefit from contrasting tones and a wide range of harmonics. You will be enveloped in 2 or more instruments within the time set (likely 40-50 mins. This means you’ll have roughly 15/20 mins with each instrument and a multidimensional experience within the sound. Perfect for those who feel blocked or stuck.

  • Both these methods are only available for in-person sessions as the treatment involves placing Himalayan Singing Bowls at specific points on your body whilst they are being played. A wonderful and unique experience that builds a direct connection with the instrument, sending the vibrations into your body. When a sound bath follows this you will be in absolute bliss!

How I work

Having delivered art-focused workshops with young people and adults for almost a decade, I know how creating a space where accessing your creativity is made easy and unthreatening can be transformative. I take this approach into my therapeutic practice.

I value transparency, equity and inclusion and aim to create a space where you feel unjudged and held.

The pillars of my approach and overall creative practice are:

SELF

It’s your experience and you are the expert on you. I acknowledge and recognise the complex and contrary in us all with no judgement.

CREATIVITY

I believe that all humans are creative however, through social conditioning, we are often separated from that part of ourselves. In this instance, I help you access an expanded creative awareness by facilitating an altered state of consciousness (ASC) through sound.

HEALING

Deep relaxation and ASC is in and of itself restorative and nourishing. Whilst in this expanded state of consciousness, what were once blocks begin to soften. Answers appear where once you may have thought things were impossible. Choices become available and your intuition comes into the fore and leads you by the heart.

CONNECTION

During your sound treatment, you will enter flow, a state of presence that facilitates a sense of connection. Feeling connected to ourselves and others often leads to a feeling of satisfaction, wholeness and groundedness.

REFLECTION

Once the treatment ends, you get to step outside of your experience and apply a compassionate, curious view of your situation.

We get to ask ‘If change is needed, how could you take a small step in a positive direction?’

RESPONSIBILITY

We both acknowledge you have the power to change things for the better and after your time in the sound, now you know how.

We get to ask, ‘How can you accept where you in your process and trust that you can make a shift when the time is right?’

TRANSFORMATION

Finding a place of acceptance can be so profound and invites softness. You get to let go of shame, doubt, worry and embrace the complex being that you are. You are empowered to make change and have practical tools to use whenever needed.

You don’t have to do this alone.

“Exhaustion will not save us. Rest will.”

 FAQs

  • Sound Healing is a wonderful way to reduce stress and anxiety however, those who have been diagnosed with moderate to acute mental health conditions such as BPD, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder etc. may need to provide some contextual information regarding any medication they are currently taking or a letter from a doctor confirming Sound Healing is appropriate. My approach is, if we can make it work in a safe way for you, let’s try.

  • Individual Sound Therapy sessions range from £65-85 (1hr &1.5 hr respectively). The 6-8 week programme is currently discounted meaning that 6 weeks comes to £357 and 8 week, £547.

  • YES! These are also known as Sound Baths for relaxation and can be done in-person or virtually. Prices start at £45 ph. Please click on the booking button for 1:! sound healing submit your name and preferred dates.

  • You can opt to enter into Sound Therapy through individual sessions however I believe that to get the most impact committing to a block to create a meaningful shift in your life. I believe the absolute minimum Sound Therapy could be impactful is 4 weekly sessions however, the additional 2 weeks is most beneficial to imbed the experience. For those whose circumstances are deeply set or rooted in the past, 8 weeks is a good amount of time to make some significant progress and set you on a good track.

  • I currently use Voice, Gong, Himalayan Singing Bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls and Gong. These can be mixed in a number of ways or used solo. I’m also trained in Nada Pressure and Sonic Activation which is a type of massage where Himalayan Singing Bowls are placed on specific areas of the body- great for stress or those people who have particularly active minds.

  • Most definitely yes. Many people find that Sound Baths or Therapy is especially effective as it gives the mind something to anchor to. You don’t have to have any previous meditation experience and often once you’ve completed a course of Sound Therapy or attended Sound Baths regularly, meditating on your own becomes much easier.

  • Currently bank transfer or Pay Pal link. Please email for further details or discuss alternatives.

  • Possibly, we can’t be certain without trying. I’ve worked with someone who had impaired hearing due to overexposure to loud sounds and he enjoyed the treatments and found them useful. There’s also Nada Pressure massage and Sonic Activation which sends vibrations on points on your body which could be a nice way to experience sound. Ultimately, we’d have to discuss things further.

  • If you are less than 3 months pregnant it is recommended not to participate in sound baths or Sound Healing as insurers do not cover people in their first trimester. This is not because it’s been deemed unsafe but an arbitrary rule. Once safely entered into your second trimester Sound Healing and Therapy can be a wonderful way to carve time for yourself and gain a deeper connection to your changing body.

  • Please be advised that cancellations made up to 48 hours before a scheduled appointment via email will be processed without a penalty. Cancellations made 48 hours or less before an appointment will be subject to a charge of half of the service rate.

  • I work from my home space in Ramsgate, CT11 0JD. As it is a home space, to keep me safe, I share the address details once we have confirmed the booking.
